Working and Research Grants

Applications are to be addressed to the Senate of the Vienna University of Applied Arts and handed in at the Office of Vice-Rector for Teaching.

(October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2019)

The working grants, which are provided annually by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economics at the suggestion of the Senate, furnish two graduates from the summer semester 2017 or the winter semester 2017/18 with the appropriate qualifications, with a 12-month grant amounting to € 650 per month.

The following requirements also apply:
•    Austrian citizenship (copy) or citizenship of EU/EWR, Switzerland, also equated third-country-nationals or stateless (§ 4 Abs 1 StudFG)
•    The completion of a diploma or a master’s program with honours (copy)
•    Age limit: 35 years
•    Well-founded special study plans or a study-related project in Austria or another country as preparation for an artistic career, or freelance artistic activity, lockable within 12 month (no master or doctoral program)
•    A concrete working concept with a schedule, list of costs and financial plan
•    Samples of work
•    Letter of recommendation from the degree tutor
•    Curriculum vitae
•    Information concerning a bank account / IBAN, BIC
•    Written commitment of support from abroad for the project or study projects

The granting of scholarships is made by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economics.

Research Grants 2017

Graduates possessing the correct qualifications, who following the completion of their diploma or master’s degree studies, commence a doctorate have an opportunity to apply for a research grant. Two grants each of € 2,600 (single payment) are available.
To promote female junior researchers 40 % of the amount of € 5.200,-  are dedicated to women.
 
The following requirements also apply:

  • Austrian citizenship (copy)
  • Equality of EU citizens analogous to § 4 StudFG
  • The completion of a diploma or a master’s program with honours (copy)
  • Reason for the application / Description of the research project
  • Letter of recommendation from the thesis tutor
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Information concerning a bank account, IBAN, BIC

Applicants for a research grant should satisfy the following criteria:

Their income should not exceed the amount of € 8,148 per year or € 679 per month.
They should not hold a current position in the Austrian federal sector.
They should not be employees of the respective university.
