The Institute of Art Sciences and Art Education
offers a multifaceted study programme that strongly links artistic practice with artistic and cultural-scientific, design
theoretical, architecture theoretical, and didactic reflection. It thereby provides professionalisation for occupations at
the intersection of art and education. The institute consists of artistic and cultural science departments with a broad spectrum
of didactic courses. The focus of knowledge production is placed upon the advancement of the arts and visual cultures as well
as on the creative processes in design and architecture. On the other hand, the institute also concentrates on research areas
and discursive practices in human, artistic, design, architectural and cultural sciences.
It is of great significance
to the institute to create an awareness of problems in the social and historical dimensions of art and aesthetics and to impart
a critical understanding of functions and the fundamental connections between art, cultural theory and society.
