Marie-Claude Poulin is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher who has explored the combination of choreography, performance and electronic media for over 20 years.

Her presentation will outline elements of her composition methods based on the body-machine dialogue in the context of intelligent systems and interactive and immersive media, with as leitmotiv, how to better grasp the specificity of the body consciousness nuances inherent to each environment. The artist will address questions related to the processes involved in her past and present works, such as improvisation-notation, movement analysis, digital visualization, programming rules, and collaborative user interaction modes.

Digital artist, choreographer, and movement specialist, Marie-Claude Poulin is co-founder and artistic co-director, with media artist Martin Kusch, of the media-performance group, kondition pluriel (www.konditionpluriel.org). She is Senior Artist, performance teacher, and artistic-researcher at the Dept. of Digital Arts and the Dept. of Media Theory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She collaborates in international research projects that focus on choreography, somatics, and performance in relation to virtual environments, artificial intelligence, and robotics. As a performer, she has worked with Meg Stuart and Benoît Lachambre, among others. Her artistic works have been presented at venues such as Ars Electronica, CYNETart, Dance Umbrella, ICA London, Experimental Performing Arts Centre (EMPAC), International Symposium for Electronic Arts (ISEA), MAK Wien, Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], Transmediale, RobotLove, and ZKM | Centre for Art and Media.
