Artistic Research Platform Meeting 2021: Working Together

Die Angewandte ist ELIA Mitglied

Hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

The upcoming ELIA Artistic Research Platform Meeting invites participants to address, investigate and re-discover the value of working together as practitioners and researchers, after having had to work in solitude during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the book Together (2013) American sociologist Richard Sennett states that living with people who differ — racially, ethnically, religiously, or economically — is the most urgent challenge facing civil society today. We tend socially to avoid engaging with people unlike ourselves, and modern politics encourages the politics of the tribe, rather than of the city.

This AR Platform meeting aims to reignite togetherness as an artistic, academic format where conviviality is understood as a necessary human activity.

The conversation(s) will centre on the following four sub-themes:

  • The seminar room and its alternatives
  • Techno-diversity effects of Covid-19
  • Artistic conceptual effects post Covid-19
  • Infrastructure: How do we organise being and working together institutionally?
All professionals working in the artistic research field or related fields, and PhD candidates, from ELIA member institutions are invited to join the AR Platform meeting.

The registration fee is €50 per person. The fee covers lunch, coffee breaks, dinner and materials related to the meeting.
