Due to the current Covid-19 situation there are no public opening hours of our department until further notice. Also the availabilty via phone is limited.

Registration for courses

Unlike previous years, we need to guarantee the safety distances of 1,5 metres in all course rooms, and we also have to provide the health authorities with the contact details of potentially affected persons in the event of a suspected COVID infection.
The online-registration via base Angewandte is mandatory before attending a course!

Notice that the online-registration is not subscription! Subscription is only a means of highlighting courses for your own purpose.

Information about registration for courses is provided in the course description (base).

The Online registration to courses enables you to have access to the ownCloud course folder and allow you to integrate course dates into your personal calendar. Changes done by teachers will automatically appear in your calendar. Furthermore, you will receive all information emails that teachers send to the group of course participants.Subscribe for courses

Information about types of courses is actually only available in german language.

Als Lehrveranstaltungstypen sind vorgesehen:

  • Künstlerischer Einzelunterricht (KE) – setzt sich aus künstlerischen, wissen­schaft­lichen, theoretischen und praktischen Lehrinhalten zusammen; der künst­le­rische Einzelunterricht beinhaltet eine individuelle Betreuung der Stu­die­ren­den.
  • Vorlesung (VO) – dient der Wissensvermittlung und führt die Studierenden in die wesentlichen Teile des Faches, seinen Aufbau und hauptsächlichen Inhalt ein.
  • Übung (UE) – dient der Vermittlung und Erprobung von künstlerischen, wissen­schaft­lichen und/oder technischen Fertigkeiten und Fähigkeiten.
  • Vorlesung und Übung (VU) – eine Kombination von Vorlesung und Übung.
  • Workshop (WSP) – ist eine Blocklehrveranstaltung, die der intensiven Aus­ein­ander­setzung mit einem bestimmten Thema dient.
  • Konversatorium (KO) – dient dem vertiefenden wissenschaftlichen Diskurs in Teilbereichen eines Faches und leitet zu selbstständiger wissenschaftlicher/ künstlerischer Auseinandersetzung an.
  • Exkursionen (EX) – dient der Veranschaulichung von Lehrinhalten.
  • Projektarbeit (PA) – ermöglicht in besonderem Maße die selbstständige Arbeit an zusammenhängenden Themen- bzw. Problemstellungen.
  • Privatissimum (PV) – dient dem vertiefenden wissenschaftlichen Diskurs in Zusammenhang mit Dissertationen.
  • Seminar (SE) – dient der vertieften wissenschaftlichen/künstlerischen Be­schäf­ti­gung mit einem Teilbereich oder Spezialgebiet eines Faches. Von den Teil­neh­men­den werden eigenständige Leistungen gefordert.
  • Proseminar (PS) – dient der Vorbereitung auf das wissenschaftliche/künst­le­ri­sche Arbeiten, der Einführung in die Fachliteratur sowie der exemplarischen Arbeitstechniken.

Enthalten bestehende Curricula abweichende Definitionen von Lehrveranstaltungs­typen, gelten die Definitionen gemäß Curriculum.
Diploma programme students can hand in an application form (available below or in the Office of Student and Academic affairs) to graduate from the first study segment.

As long as all required courses are completed, a confirmation about the first study segment can be issued. For the diploma programme architecture the same procedure applies to the second study segment; students of the diploma programme industrial design additionally have to present a diploma project to an examination board.
Recognition of courses at the Angewandte
Upon request, courses completed at other universities can be recognised individually for the respective part of the curriculum throughout the entire course of study. The Dean of Studies for teaching makes the decision on the matter. Before commencing studies, no information about potential recognition of credits can be provided.

Recognition of courses at other universities
After completion of a course, you can pick up an examination list in the Office of Student and Academic Affairs. You will need that document in order to request for recognitions at other universities. For information, please contact the respective university directly.

Curriculum Analysis
provides students with information about their educational progress

Record of studies
serves as a document for social insurance and finance authorities, as well as for the application for extension of residency permits for foreign students

Examination list
official proof of examinations completed at the “Angewandte”

ECTS transcript
serves incoming ERASMUS students for the recognition of examinations completed at the “Angewandte” by the home university

Course Examinations

Exams Passed
may be repeated once up to twelve months after the first exam (but before the end of the study segment/entire study course). On resitting the exam, the first result becomes null and void.
Exams Failed
may be repeated up to three times. The third resit will be carried out as a board examination. The student may apply for a board examination already at the second repetition.

Special Regulations for the Central Artistic Subject

Two examinations passed in the central artistic subject may be repeated once each throughout the entire duration of the study course.

Students are entitled to resit up to three times any exams failed in the central artistic subject. The first repetition means that the entire course is to be repeated. The second and third repetition may each be carried out as a single exam procedure involving an examination board.

Comprehensive Exams by Examination Boards

Comprehensive exams carried out by an examination board have to be repeated in full if the student failed more than one subject. In the case of one failed subject, only that one needs to be repeated.

Pedagogical Internships

Failed pedagogical internships, which are to be completed as part of the Art Education Studies, can only be repeated once.

According to the modalities for examinations outlined in the curricula, achievement may be assessed by oral and written exams or project related work. In principle oral examinations are open to the public.
