Liddy Scheffknecht: Living Room (Closing)
In the exhibition Living
Room (Closing), Liddy Scheffknecht (Cultural Studies | Art and Communication Practices) explores the transformation
of the living room. The fragile installation, made of cardboard and paper tape, is formally reminiscent of a classic living
room: a sofa, table, chest of drawers, and a television are clearly recognizable. But the ensemble is not stable—it can be
opened and closed like an oversized pop-up book.
When half open, as presented at the Funkhaus,
the object appears to be on the verge of collapsing. Scheffknecht thus refers to the gradual dissolution of a space that has
been shaped by television for decades. Today, mobile devices, streaming services, and on-demand content have replaced the
traditional television experience—and with it, the classic living room. The sculpture thus becomes a symbol of a media and
culturally transformed everyday reality.
Exhibition opening on Tuesday, 3 June 2025 at 18:30 with ORF-Director
Vorarlberg Markus Klement, State Minister for Culture Barbara Schöbi-Fink at ORF Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg, Rundfunkplatz

Gerry. The exhibition will be on view daily from June 3 to September 14, 2025.
