Incoming Exchange Students

Students from Partner institutions (excluding CEEPUS-scholars, Freemover) have the possibility to apply for participation for one or two terms.

Note on language level: Most courses are held in German, some in English. Basic knowledge of the German language is generally recommended, English - level B2. A German course is offered free of charge at the beginning of the semester. Our English-language study programs are of course only held in English.

Overview: Semester dates

Step 1: See the International Office in YOUR institution

Indicate interest at the International Students Office of your home institution.

Step 2: Nomination

If you have been selected for participation in an Erasmus+ programme, your home institution has to nominate you officially via e-mail by your International coordinator.

Nomination details necessary:

  • Last name & First name
  • Date & City of birth
  • Sex (m|f|d)
  • Citizenship
  • Home address
  • Telephone
  • E-mail
  • ERASMUS code of Home University (if available)
  • Field of Study at Home University
  • Desired field of study at our university (BA or MA if necessary) and 2nd choice if applicable, in case of rejection in the desired department
  • Semester you are in at the moment of your application
  • Desired exchange semester (winter|summer|study year)

Step 3: Application

upload your complete application (max. 100MB!), consisting of:

  • Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae with contact information

Only a complete application can be accepted, documents must be handed in either in English or German! For English taught studies, the application must be handed in English only!

Architecture: Students interested in Architecture are advised to contact the preferred studio before sending an application (most architectural projects take a whole year, applications should be made preferably for winter term or for the whole study year)
Graphics and Advertising: German knowledge in level B1-B2 is expected.
Cross-Disciplinary Strategies: As it is a theoretical course, no portfolio is required for the application, but a course preference within the letter of motivation.
Art and cultural studies: Please submit 1-2 semester papers in German or English as work samples.

The selection is based on the portfolio and the number of disposable places. The announcement can take between 6-8 weeks. The applicants and coordinators will be informed immediately. The Partnership between home- and guest university is no warranty for admission.
