As part of the "Foto Wien" festival,
the exhibition FOTOTECHNIKa deals with the primarily male connotated field of photographic technology and technical manuals
in order to critically reflect on these historically shaped stereotypical gender attributions and also to subject them to
a reinterpretation.
Women with an affinity for technology are thus both the protagonists and
the subject of the exhibition. In terms of content, FOTOTECHNIK
a spans an arc from female biographies
from the early 20th century, such as Lucia Moholy and Berenice Abbott, to the practical experiences of the participating women
artists themselves, all of whom have completed technical training and transfer observations of their own applied practice
into the artistic perspective.
