Ulrich Strothjohann first garnered attention as part of the Cologne art
scene in the 1990s. Discretely and pointedly, he inscribes his works with tricks, produces ironic references, creates mysterious
allegories, and take pleasure in misleading the viewer. Language and the written word are significant components of Strothjohann's
art, dealing playfully with images and ideas.

1984 New York; 1985 - 2009 Cologne; 2006/2007 guest lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts; from 2010 Berlin; from
2023 Berlin / Vienna. Exhibitions since 1991 in Graz, Cologne, Zurich, Kassel, Nice, Athens, London, Basel, Berlin, etc.
