Leonor Antunes: discrepancies with W.W. (in company)

In her exhibition discrepancies with W.W. (in company) at the University Gallery of the Angewandte in the Heiligenkreuzerhof, Vienna, Leonor Antunes combines her own artistic works with objects and textiles by designers of the Wiener Werkstätte and the former k.k. Kunstgewerbeschule (Imperial and Royal School of Arts and Crafts), drawn from the Collection and Archive of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

Programme:

Concert, 19 June 2026, at 7:00 pm
Éliane Radigue: OCCAM XVI (2014), OCCAM RIVER XXII (2018) and OCCAM XXIII (2025), performed by Carol Robinson (Bassklarinette) & Bertrand Gauguet (Altsaxophon)
On this occasion, within the exhibition, Carol Robinson on bass clarinet and Bertrand Gauguet on alto saxophone will interpret works by composer Eliane Radigue. Radigue, born in Paris in 1932 and passed away in 2026, is regarded as one of the defining figures of contemporary experimental and electronic music. Emerging from the tradition of French musique concrète, she developed a distinctive minimalist sonic language characterised by finely nuanced, slowly evolving sound processes.

Luscious is perhaps the most fitting term to describe the sound quality of the union between alto saxophone and bass clarinet in OCCAM RIVER XXII (co-written with Éliane Radigue). The piece highlights the subtlest and deepest qualities of the instruments’ timbres. For thirty minutes, time seems to be suspended in listening and breathing, within an essential musical expression akin to a sonic immersion. As our auditory perception sharpens, we can hear a slight beating in the background, generating delicate yet persistent pulsations that evoke a feeling of absolute peace. An experience that goes beyond mere performance, transforming it into an acoustic meditation.” (Carol Robinson)
