On
behalf of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, rector, Gerald Bast, calls for an active protest of Austrian foreign policy
leaders in order "not to simply go back to business as usual" after the death of Mahsa Amini. Last week, 22-year-old Mahsa
Amini, who was studying art in Tehran, had been arrested by the so-called “morality and religion police” because of her "un-Islamic"
clothing and taken to a police station. She died in police custody in the Iranian capital. The tragic death of the art student
caused and continues to cause protest and horror, concern, and shock both in Iran and around the world, as the circumstances
of her death need o to be clarified and a strong suspicion rests on the Tehran police to be responsible for it.
