Die Angewandte ist als führendes Kompetenzzentrum für Kunst und Forschung national und international anerkannt und hat sich aufgrund der Entwicklungen der letzten Jahre und aufgrund der strategisch aufgebauten Kompetenz in transdisziplinär angelegter Projektarbeit zur Entwicklung innovativer Lösungen mit gesellschaftlicher Wirkkraft eine starke Position erarbeitet. Um langfristig und nachhaltig künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Arbeit sowie deren Ergebnisse dokumentieren zu können, bildet die 2013 von Gerald Bast, Elias G. Carayannis und David F.J. Campbell initiierte neue Buchreihe „Arts, Research, Innovation, and Society“ bei Springer New York wichtige und unverzichtbare Bausteine für eine erfolgreiche Außendarstellung der Universität und Vermittlung wichtiger künstlerischer und wissenschaftlicher Ergebnisse.
