Set in Hamburg in
1942, Truth and Treason tells the true story of Helmuth Hübener, among the youngest known resistance fighters against
National Socialism. Raised as a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon), Helmuth confronts
an ethical breakdown when his ecclesiastical authority, Bishop Arthur Zander, calls for obedience to the regime. The tension
sharpens with the persecution and disappearance of his close friend Salomon Schwarz. Hübener turns to forbidden BBC broadcasts,
classified as “Feindsender.” He accesses suppressed information of the war and the regime’s distortions. With a small circle
of peers, he produces and distributes pamphlets. They challenge official narratives and disrupt the informational control
of the state. As the Gestapo closes in, his actions transcend youthful defiance, becoming a rigorous engagement with truth
and the fragile threshold between knowledge and action in National Socialist Germany.
