Facilitator, expert, mentor, coach, authority, colleague,? – About the role(s) my teaching needs

Friday, 4 April 2025, 10-12 am

If you can relate to some of the following questions, role concepts could be an aspect of your teaching worth some input, reflection and exchange.

Do you sometimes wonder whether it's right to do or say something to a student or a group of students? Have you had the experience of saying or doing something that unexpectedly led to misunderstandings, student resistance, (potential) conflict or unfulfillable expectations? Are there situations where you are not sure if it is OK to show your personal opinions and values? Would you like students to take more responsibility? And what about the responsibility for the students that your role entails? Would you like to feel more in control sometimes? Do you wonder why it's difficult to have your expertise, your teaching structure or your personal/professional boundaries respected?
